NO LOCAL TRANSFER FEE IN LAME DUCK
Through legislative efforts and an extremely aggressive media and public outreach campaign that included the launch of the website www.njhometax.com, NJAR® successfully fought efforts to push the home sales tax legislation A3190 through the Legislature during the lame duck legislative session.
NJAR® would like to sincerely thank all members who lent their voice to our campaign against local realty transfer fees. However, our work as REALTORS® is not done! We need to continue our efforts because this issue is expected to resurface in the next legislative session. In anticipation of the bill’s return, NJAR® stands ready to renew the fight when the 213th New Jersey Legislature convenes in mid-January. As always, NJAR® encourages all REALTORS® to join the effort by reaching out to their clients and customers to explain the impact the local home sales tax will have on them.
